These shots were taken at the Shiseido dinner last week. As a multi-hyphenate creative in the entertainment/fashion/beauty industry (lets just call that multi-hyphenate squared, ha) I get invited to a lot of events. I remember when I first started in the business way back when I was dyingggg to get invited to events like this, now I can’t keep up and often have to decline because of conflicting obligations or work demands. I share this because I think it’s so important to take a moment, especially as your career evolves to really step back and absorb and appreciate what your hard work had lead you to. That means yes of course documenting it on social media and taking the right photos but then to also process the incredible moment. Take it in, then put your phone away and enjoy the company around you. Getting to know someone IRL in a real old-fashioned conversation, what a concept huh? But seriously. I’m very good about being conscious of this in social situations because you will get so much more out of the experience when you really take a beat, take it in and connect the old fashioned way. I feel that this, not the photo, will last longer and create potentially more meaningful relationships. That is if the company around you will take a moment to put their phone down to engage with you. Hit or miss in Hollywood lemme tell ya. ha!
